Most people who can't sleep aren't short of tips. They lie down tired and their mind starts up: work, money, tomorrow, and then worry about not sleeping. Hypnotherapy works on that busy mind. In deep relaxation, Genie guides you to let go of the racing thoughts and the worry about sleep itself, so rest can come more easily. Sessions are tailored to you.

What Genie helps with

A mind that won't switch off

Settle the racing thoughts at bedtime. The day replays itself the moment the house goes quiet. Tomorrow's list, the conversation that went badly, the thing you forgot to send. Nothing is wrong and nothing will stop.

Waking at 3am

Get back to sleep instead of lying there thinking. Asleep by eleven and wide awake at three, with four hours of lying there ahead of you. The waking is common; it is what the mind does next that decides the rest of the night.

Worrying about not sleeping

Break the loop where the worry keeps you awake. You watch the clock, work out how much is left, and the arithmetic wakes you up further. This is often the easiest part to break.

Money and work on your mind

Put tomorrow's problems down for the night. Two in the morning is the worst possible time to think about either, and the only time there is nothing else to do.

Shift work

Wind down and sleep after a late or night shift, in a body that has lost track of when it is meant to sleep.

Relying on sleep medication

Build a calmer bedtime you can rely on. Something that started as a short-term help and has become the only way in. Any change to medication is between you and your doctor; what can be worked on is what comes before it.

Questions people ask

Can hypnotherapy help if I have tried everything?

Most people who come about sleep have. The difference is that this works on the mind that will not settle, rather than adding another rule to follow at bedtime.

How many sessions will I need?

The two-session Program is the usual starting point, and the plan is agreed with you on the first call.

Will I get something to use at home?

Yes. You get a recording to listen to, and most people use it at night.

What if something medical is causing it?

If snoring, gasping or restless legs could be part of it, Genie will suggest you see your doctor as well. Hypnotherapy works alongside that, not instead of it.

What clients say

I had a few mental blocks around public speaking and talking on camera and thanks to Genie at Key Hypnotherapy I've been able to mostly overcome them and still working on it. What's great is she provides the recorded audio of the sessions, enabling me to listen every time I feel the need. I will be back to work on insomnia. She's also super welcoming and genuine.
